TDK Flexible Amorphous Silicon Thin-Film Solar Cells (BCS Series)

TDK is the world’s first manufacturer to mass-produce flexible amorphous silicon thin-film solar cells with plastic substrates.
Its core manufacturing process is roll-to-roll plasma CVD coating, which deposits amorphous silicon (a-Si) photoelectric layers onto PET plastic films.
Unlike outdoor crystalline silicon photovoltaic panels, TDK’s products are optimized for power generation under low indoor light conditions.
This product is a flexible amorphous silicon photovoltaic (PV) cell built on thin-film substrates. It delivers high power conversion efficiency under indoor lighting such as fluorescent lamps and LEDs, as well as low-illumination environments, with a proven track record of market deployment over many years. It features ultra-light, ultra-thin construction, drop resistance, flexibility, and excellent shape machinability.
Furthermore, customizable design allows integration into a wide range of products. As a power generation component for energy harvesting (ambient power generation), it enables battery-free operation of devices.
Typical applications include wearables such as wristwatches and smartwatches, beacons, wireless sensor networks and other IoT devices.
