TDK Corporation proudly launches the B25696H series MKP DC High-Frequency (HF) film capacitors*. Serving as a high-reliability and high-performance DC-link capacitor platform for next-generation silicon carbide (SiC) power electronic devices, this series features capacitance ranging from 47 µF to 1280 µF and rated voltages from 900 V to 2000 V. With ultra-low equivalent series inductance (ESL) and low equivalent series resistance (ESR), it fully meets the application requirements of modern high-switching-frequency topologies.

Typical applications of the B25696H series include Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Solid-State Transformers (SST), renewable energy inverters, traction drives and industrial motor drives.

A key competitive advantage of the B25696H series lies in its proprietary internal design, which ensures uniform current distribution across capacitor windings. This design delivers an ultra-low ESL down to 30 nH and an ESR as low as 0.8 mΩ at 10 kHz, while maintaining excellent ESR stability up to 100 kHz. By minimizing parasitic inductance and resistive losses, the capacitors effectively suppress voltage spikes and reduce electrical stress on SiC power devices, improving thermal margin and overall system reliability.

These cylindrical capacitors adopt metallized polypropylene (MKP) dielectric, equipped with an aluminum housing and resin top cover. Their main characteristics are as follows:

  • Two diameter options: 85 mm and 100 mm;

  • Fitted with M6 female threaded terminals and M12 threaded mounting bolts;

  • Operating temperature range: -40 °C to +85 °C (hot-spot temperature);

  • Rated service life of 100,000 hours at a hot-spot temperature of +75 °C and rated voltage;

  • Maximum service life extended to 200,000 hours under voltage and temperature derating conditions;

  • Ripple current capability up to 91 A (at ambient temperature of +60 °C and 10 kHz), ideal for high-power-density converter designs.

To facilitate system-level optimization, TDK also provides the free online CapThermal tool. Engineers can use this tool to conduct thermal simulation of capacitors and accurately evaluate service life under specific operating conditions. It helps shorten the design cycle of high-performance SiC power converters and enables more precise component selection.
