TDK MEMS Gyroscope GYPRO4300 ±300 °/s

TDK has released the GYPRO4300, a high-stability digital MEMS gyroscope, suitable for dynamic applications

The gyroscope features an input measurement range of ±300 °/s, a bandwidth of 200 Hz, and a latency of just 1 ms. It also employs a closed-loop architecture, ensuring high linearity and stability in dynamic environments. The GYPRO4300 is the first product reference of Tronics' new high-performance digital MEMS gyroscope platform, the GYPRO4000.

Accurate navigation and positioning in dynamic applications

With an excellent bias instability of 0.5°/h as a typical value (maximum 2°/h) and a gyro angular random walk (ARW) of 0.1°/√h, the GYPRO4300 offers a high-performance MEMS gyroscope with miniaturization, digitalization, and low SWaP (size, weight, and power), paving the way for a new generation of precise positioning, navigation, and stabilization functions. Specific dynamic applications include railway, land vehicles, VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aircraft and drones (unmanned aerial vehicles), marine and subsea systems, drilling and measuring instruments, etc.

A miniature and robust gyroscope suitable for systems operating under vibrational conditions

The Tronics GYPRO4300 utilizes a closed-loop architecture, offering robust vibration resistance of 0.5°/h/g² even under harsh conditions. The GYPRO4300 gyroscope is housed in a miniature sealed ceramic J-lead package, ensuring a long operational and storage lifespan, and meeting the stringent thermal cycling requirements of critical applications. These gyroscopes are embedded with fully hard-coded electronics featuring a 24-bit digital SPI interface, facilitating rapid integration into INS (Inertial Navigation System), IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), and AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System). To minimize mechanical cross-coupling in multi-axis applications, the GYPRO4300 features three frequency ranges.

Gyroscope with low SWaP, high cost-effectiveness, and high reliability

With its miniature packaging and low power consumption, the Tronics GYPRO4300 gyroscope offers a digital, cost-effective, and low SWaP alternative to bulky, expensive, and power-consuming solutions such as DTG (dynamically tuned gyroscope) and FOG (fiber optic gyroscope). Due to its solid-state architecture, which reduces the number of internal components and system complexity, the GYPRO4300 boasts an MTBF of over 1,000,000 hours, which is more than 10 times higher than existing DTGs and FOGs with similar performance. Furthermore, its built-in self-test function ensures initial verification of sensor integrity and continuous operational functionality testing.

The GYPRO4300 gyroscope and the high-performance Tronics AXO®300 digital accelerometer complement each other perfectly, sharing the same SMD J-lead ceramic package (12 x 12 x 5 mm) and the same digital interface, enabling low-cost integration, assembly, and PCB reliability, even under rapidly changing temperature conditions.
