III. Working Principle
Bosch MEMS silicon microfabrication process; accelerometers detect gravity and linear motion; The gyroscope detects angular velocity and rotation; The chip is equipped with a built-in hardware motion processing unit, eliminating the need for an MCU to perform complex algorithms. The chip directly outputs step counting, gesture recognition, and activity status interrupt signals internally, while the host device only needs to read these signals. This significantly reduces the main control unit's computational load and extends battery life.
IV. Typical Application Scenarios
Wearable devices: smartwatches, fitness bands, TWS earbuds, featuring step counting, wrist-up screen activation, posture detection, and fall detection.
VR/AR Controllers: Pose Tracking, Motion Recognition
IoT Portable Devices: Remote Controls, Fitness Bands, Human Activity Monitoring
Mobile Phone: Activity Tracking, Gesture Recognition, Image Stabilization Assistance
Note: Consumer-grade components, not automotive-grade, and cannot be used in vehicle safety systems.
V. Comparison of Options in the Same Series
BMI260: The previous generation's mainstream six-axis IMU, with basic motion functions;
BMI270: Upgraded version, featuring optimized step-counting algorithms and activity recognition capabilities, improved OIS interface, and enhanced power consumption optimization;
BMI263: High seismic resistance version.
