Murata Flagship Inertial MEMS | SCA3xxx 3-Axis Accelerometer, Dual Workhorse for Automotive & Industrial Fields

Murata develops the full SCA3xxx series of 3-axis accelerometers based on its proprietary mature capacitive 3D-MEMS technology. Recognized worldwide as a benchmark inertial sensing solution for automotive electronics and high-end industrial equipment, these sensors feature ultra-low offset drift across the full temperature range, exceptional vibration and shock resistance, and full automotive-grade qualification. They dominate demanding application scenarios including construction machinery, vehicle navigation, structural health monitoring, and industrial predictive maintenance, satisfying dual requirements of automotive safety systems and harsh industrial environments. All models within the series share identical pinouts and communication protocols, enabling standardized hardware reuse and rapid cross-project development for customers.
SCA3100-D04: Classic entry-level automotive model with dual selectable ranges of ±2 g / ±6 g. Optimized for vehicle attitude monitoring, rollover detection, vehicle anti-theft systems and hill-start assist.
SCA3300-D01: Versatile all-purpose flagship unit with three software-selectable ranges (±1.5 g / ±3 g / ±6 g). Suitable for both automotive and industrial use, it is the preferred choice for tilt measurement and inertial dead reckoning.
Extended Series Model SCA3400-D01: Ultra-long-term stable industrial variant with lifetime offset drift ≤ 0.5 mg, designed for long-duration structural monitoring of bridges and buildings.

Sensing ArchitectureProprietary capacitive 3D-MEMS sensing element integrated with a dedicated ASIC signal conditioning chip, embedding hardware filters, temperature acquisition circuits and full-channel fault self-test circuitry.
Measurement RangesThe SCA3300 supports three software-switchable full-scale ranges: ±1.5 g, ±3 g and ±6 g. The SCA3100 provides dual ranges of ±2 g and ±6 g. Two built-in low-pass filter bandwidths (10 Hz / 70 Hz) are available to match diverse working scenarios.
Communication InterfaceHigh-speed standard SPI digital output. No external analog amplifier circuits are required. Synchronized X/Y/Z 3-axis data output delivers strong immunity to electromagnetic interference.
Operating Temperature RangeUltra-wide automotive & industrial temperature span from -40°C to +125°C. Excellent zero-offset drift performance across all temperatures ensures negligible measurement deviation under extreme hot and cold conditions.
Reliability QualificationsFully AEC-Q100 automotive-qualified, compliant with ELV and RoHS lead-free environmental standards, and compatible with automated reflow soldering SMD assembly lines.
Shock & Vibration ResistanceExclusive mechanical damping buffer structure withstands instantaneous high shock up to 20,000 g. No resonance distortion occurs under continuous vibration for consistent signal output.
Power Supply & Power ConsumptionSingle 3.0 V ~ 3.6 V standard supply voltage; typical operating current as low as 1 mA. Low power draw makes it ideal for battery-powered portable devices.
Package Dimensions12-pin molded DFL SMD package with compact dimensions of 7.6 mm × 8.6 mm × 3.3 mm, saving PCB layout space.
Additional FunctionsComprehensive full-range self-diagnosis function that real-time reports faults such as sensor open circuit, abnormal signals and excessive temperature drift, boosting the safety redundancy of end devices.
